At least 15 people died in a clash between the FARC and drug gang “Los Rastrojos” in the department of Cauca, reports news website Terra.
The fighting started Thursday, February 7, in the rural areas of Perlas and Ceiba in the southwestern department according to Caracol Radio.
An official from one of the municipalities, Martin Benavides, said, “We confirmed nine bodies yesterday afternoon and four more were found last night as well as two today for a total of 15 dead.”
The official also said that indigenous people have been displaced by this territorial conflict between the guerrilla group and the drug trafficking gang.
It was recently reported that the FARC, former paramilitary groups, and Los Rastrojos have been forced to stop fighting and start working together because of ongoing pressure by the armed forces, forming business relationships to traffic cocaine.
