Western leader of ‘Los Urabeños’ turns himself in

An alleged ringleader of the neo-paramilitary organization “Los Urabeños” has voluntarily turned himself in to authorities in Medellin, Antioquia department, Caracol Radio reported.

Felix Alberto Villa Valderrama, alias “Carepollo” or “Julian,” handed himself into the Technical Investigation Team (CTI), who belive him to be the military chief of the neo-paramilitary group in the sub-region of western Antioquia.

His prime responsibilities are thought to have been to provide and ensure a vital narco-trafficking link between Medellin and the Caribbean coastal area of Uraba, northern Antioquia, near the border with Panama.

He faces charges of murder, extortion, kidnapping and conspiracy, among others.
