Leftist candidate Gustavo Petro is leading the Bogota mayoral race against Green Party candidate Enrique Peñalosa with 19.8% against 13.8%, a poll released on Tuesday showed.
Pollster Cifras y Conceptos is the first to put Petro this far ahead of his political opponent; in previous polls by other pollsters, the two went head-to-head.
The two leading politicians are followed by Cambio Radical candidate Carlos Francisco Galan with 11.9%, independent candidate Antanas Mockus with 9.0% and the only female candidate Gina Parody with 7.9%.
The poll was held among 580 adults from all socio-economic levels, said Cifras y Conceptos.
Bogota, as well as the rest of Colombia, take to the polls on October 30 to vote for new mayors, governors, deputies and council members.
