A political firestorm erupted after Uribe publicly supported the Green Party candidate causing cracks in the pro-Uribe Partido de la U as well as opposition from Green Party members like former presidential candidate Antanas Mockus.
On Caracol Radio Thursday, Green Party candidate for Governor of Antioquia, Sergio Fajardo said, “There is a big incapacity with people who initially came together. But we have arrived at a moment that, after six months of wasting energy, Peñalosa, Mockus and Uribe do not agree. We still don’t know what consists of the alliance. There is no basis of which to discuss.”
In regards to his own campaign the gubernatorial candidate assured there is no alliance between the Green Party and the Liberal Party in the race in Antioquia.
“We have not made an alliance with the Liberal Party. There are four of our people and four people from the Liberals to propose a development that has not been made in the region,” said Fajardo.
Criticizing the actions in the capital city and the actions of his fellow party member, Fajardo said, “There is no union, there is no force and we are destroying our capital, and went on to warn that following this path, “they will lose the mayoral election in Bogota.”
