Uribe reiterates support for Peñalosa in Bogota mayor election

Colombia’s former President Alvaro Uribe reiterated his support for Bogota mayor candidate Enrique Peñalosa.

According to Uribe, Peñalosa is “the most convenient option” for the capital to succeed the suspended Samuel Moreno after october’s elections.

The capital is currently under the temporary supervision of former Education Minister Maria Fernanda Campo, while Moreno’s party is seeking replacement for Moreno.

According to Uribe, Peñalosa, a member of the opposition Green Party, is “transparent” and “a great manager.”

“If he opens a humble dialogue with all sectors in Bogota I believe he can obtain a great victory,” Uribe was quoted saying by newspaper El Espectador.
