Santa Fe back on top in Liga Postobon

Santa Fe are back on top of the Colombian Liga Postobon following a 2-0 win over Junior, while Huila defeated Cucuta to jump to third place.

After a week of of sponsorship issues, Santa Fe returned to what it has been doing so well this season and dominated throughout most of the match against reigning champions Junior.

Just ten minutes had passed at Bogota’s Campin stadium when Cristian Nazarith put the home side in the lead, and an own goal from Roman Torres doubled that advantage 16 minutes later.

As a result, Santa Fe reconquer the top spot and are one point ahead of second-placed Tolima.

Atletico Huila meanwhile, defeated Cucuta 4-1 despite first conceding a 19th-minute goal from Jose Bueno.

Ayron Del Valle restored the balance in the 32nd minute and late goals from Gonzalo Martinez (79th, penalty), Victor Guaza (89th) and Carlos Carbonero (91st) handed the hosts a comfortable win.

Once Caldas climb to fourth position following a 0-1 win at Boyaca Chico. The only goal came from Dayro Moreno with just three minutes left to go.

La Equidad visited Independiente Medellin and were held to a 1-1 draw, forcing a drop to fifth position. DIM took the lead as Luis Arias converted a penalty in the 27th minute but Carlos Renteria leveled six minutes later to hand La Equidad a point.

In the day’s remaining game, Cortulua and Deportivo Cali held each other to a 1-1 draw.

Four rounds are left to play in the regular seasons and the teams currently on course for a spot in the next round are Santa Fe, Tolima, Huila, Once Caldas, La Equidad, Nacional, Quindio and Cucuta.
