Deportes Tolima defend their Colombian league lead in an away match to La Equidad, while Independiente Medellin try to get things back on the rails after their Copa Libertadores elimination.
But the action starts on Friday with Bogota side Santa Fe hosting Cucuta Deportivo. Santa Fe are currently in fourth place and a victory in this game will certainly take them a big step closer to the semi finals.
Their opponents, Cucuta, have little left to play for as they are currently in 16th place and no hope of somehow making it to the next round.
The last time the two teams met, in October 2009, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
On Saturday, fifth-placed Real Cartagena need a win over Deportivo Cali in a home match in order to possible rejoin the top four.
Tolima face what might be a tough task at La Equidad a day later. La Equidad beat Medellin 2-1 last week and appear to be in good shape. Placed sixth, they still have a good chance of qualifying for the semi finals.
Tolima are comfortably on top with two points more than second-placed Medellin, but the Ibague outfit will know that any defeat could be the start of more to come.
Three days after getting knocked out of the Copa Libertadores, Medellin will want to prove why they are Colombian champions with a good result against Boyaca Chico.
Chico are traditionally a tough opponent for DIM, but Leonel Alvarez men did beat the Tunja side 1-0 at Atanasio Girardot eight months ago.
Junior, currently in third place, travel to visit America de Cali whose season has been nothing short of disastrous. Moreover, Junior have good memories from their last encounter, beating America 3-0 in Barranquilla last October.
