Police seize 3 tons of marijuana in Colombia

Anti-Narcotics Police seized three tons of marijuana in the western Colombia department Valle de Cauca, said a police press release Sunday.

According to the report, police seized the drugs and one ton of sulfuric acid in seperate operations on Sunday. Sulfuric acid is a key ingredient in processing cocaine.

Police believe the marijuana belongs to the drug trafficking gang the “Rastrojos,” and was intended for domestic markets in Medellin.

A vehicle and an unnamed person were also captured during the operations. The police actions were part of an ongoing offensive against drug traffickers, codenamed “Troya Pacifico.”
