Police arrest Rastrojos leader outside Medellin

Police said Tuesday they have arrested the successor of “Sebastian,” a leader of drug gangs “Los Rastrojos” and “Los Paisas,” who was murdered by his own men in July.

The alleged successor, “Brandon,” was arrested in Bello, a town bordering Medellin to the north.

According to Antioquia Police commander Jose Gerardo Acevedo, officials found $80,000 in cash and a gold brick with an estimated value of $20,000.

Los Rastrojos were formed from remnants of the now-defunct Norte del Valle cartel and have expanded their territory from Cali to the north of Colombia where they reportedly have aligned with the local drug gang, Los Paisas.
