Medellin police arrest ‘Rastrojos’ head

Medellin police said Sunday they have arrested a leader of drug trafficking organization “Los Rastrojos” who is wanted by Spain to face drug charges.

According to the authorities, the 47-year old Jhon Jairo Giraldo Cardona until recently was the organization’s main contact person in the European country.

Giraldo Cardona reportedly fled Spain after Spanish authorities arrested a number of his associates accused of distributing Colombian drugs in Europe.

The alleged narco’s extradition is expected shortly as Colombian authorities have already granted Spain’s extradition request.
