Fajardo ‘willing’ to join Mockus campaign

Presidential candidate Sergio Fajardo, who after the recent Congressional elections fell in the polls from second to last, is willing to become running mate of Antanas Mockus, whose Green Party did surprisingly well in the elections and is third in polls after conservatives Juan Manuel Santos and Noemi Sanin.

According to former Bogota mayor Mockus, the former Medellin mayor sent him a letter in which he said he was “willing to be the vice-presidential formula,” but needed “time to discuss this with his supporters and fine-tune the programatic alliance.”

On Saturday, the two presidential hopefuls appeared together in Bogota in an attempt to join forces against the domination of the two conservative candidates in the May 30 elections.

Earlier, Mockus had sent a letter to Fajardo asking him to team up with the Green Party.
