Fajardo kicks off presidential campaign

Former Medellin mayor Sergio Fajardo Wednesday officially kicked off his presidential campaign in the south of Bogota.

Fajardo, together with former Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos, is considered one of the most likely to make it to the Casa de Nariño if current President Alvaro Uribe is not allowed to run for a third term.

The popular Paisa gained acclaim as mayor of Medellin where under his leadership the city was considered an example for Latin American cities on how to create social cohesion and tackle crime.

Fajardo unofficially had been campaigning for over a year already.
