Colombia’s President Santos’ approval rating rises 2%

Data released by the polling agency Gallup Colombia Ltd. indicated that President Juan Manuel Santos had a 64% job approval rating, Radio Caracol reported Thursday.

The poll showed a 2% increase in Santos’ approval rating from February (62%). The survey found that a slightly smaller percentage (27%) of Colombians disapproved of Santos compared to in February (28%).

The survey also found that Santos’ political rival, former President Alvaro Uribe, had a slightly higher approval rating (65%) than the sitting president, however, a higher percentage of respondents (30%) also said they disapproved of Uribe.

The data reported was based on a survey of 1,200 citizens in Colombia’s five largest cities (Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla and Bucaramanga) and Gallup Colombia estimated the margin of error was between three and seven percent, at a confidence level of 95%.
