Colombian police said Monday they have captured the military chief of neo-paramilitary group “Los Paisas,” who had a $140,000 reward on his head.
Jesus Maria Mosquera Mosquera, alias “Sangre” allegedly had 300 people under his command.
The drug trafficker was captured in a rural area of Caceres, a municipality towards the north of Antioquia department.
Sangre, who was a member of the now-demobilized AUC’s Bloque Mineros, joined “Los Paisas” and was allegedly locked in a permanent feud with narco-trafficking group “Los Rastrojos” over drug routes in the Bajo Cauca region of Antioquia.
He was captured along with his deputy Ferney Ávila Chamorro, alias “Fercho,” after 18 months of investigative work by Interpol and Colombia’s judicial police Dijin.
