Colombia seizes 300 kilos of cocaine off Caribbean coast

Colombia’s Navy said Monday it has seized more than 300 kilos of cocaine on a peninsula close to the Caribbean coastal city of Cartagena.

In an interview with W Radio, fleet Admiral Cesar Narvaez said the drugs were found on the Caribbean peninsula of Baru, some 20 miles south of Colombia’s top Caribbean tourism destination.

The drugs allegedly belonged to the neo-paramilitary drug trafficking organization Los Urabeños and was hidden under the floorboards of an abandoned building.

According to Narvaez, Colombia’s Caribbean naval fleet has seized more than 42 metric tons of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1.2 billion.
