Authorities uncover plot to attack jailed drug lord: Caracol

Authorities have uncovered a plot to attack one of Colombia’s most infamous drug lords, reported Caracol Radio Friday.

In recent hours Colombian authorities have discovered an alleged plot to attack former narco-trafficker Camilo Torres, better known by his alias, “Fritanga.”

Fritanga is currently incarcerated in Giron’s prison, in the northern province of Santander. The drug lord had to be moved from his digs in Bogota due to security concerns.

The drug trafficker was arrested June 30 during a star-studded wedding ceremony that was intended to last a week. Police believed Fritanga to be a leading operative for drug trafficking organization “Los Urabeños,” which controls much of the drug trade in northern Colombia.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the plot.
