Police strike a blow at gangs in 40 raids

Security forces captured 28 gang members, including the finance officer of Colombia’s prominent drug gang “Los Rastrojos,” reported RCN Radio Wednesday.

Colombian security forces executed 40 raids around the country capturing 28 members of the drug gangs, Los Rastrojos, “Los Triana” and the “Oficina de Envigado.”

Among those captured was, Giovanny Roncancio Castellanos, the finance officer of Los Rastrojos who base their drug trafficking operations in Valle de Cauca, in the southwest of Colombia, but have strong influence around the country.

Nineteen suspected gang members were arrested in Medellin, a city whose underworld is mostly controlled by the Oficina de Envigado.
