Neo-paramilitary leader extradited to the United States

A leading commander of the Colombian neo-paramilitary group Urabeños has been extradited to the United States on charges of drug trafficking reported local media Wednesday.

The Colombian Supreme Court of Justice said Luis Fernando Jaramillo Arroyave, alias “Nano,” considered to be one of the founders of the two neo-paramilitary groups Los Urabeños and Los Paisas, was extradited to the United States for smuggling over 13 tons of cocaine.

Jaramillo was captured in Medellin in February 2011 and was sentenced 9 months later on charges of murder, drug trafficking and conspiracy.
