Medellin athletes will launch an attack on gravity in a death defying night-time downhill race on BMX bicycles, tricycles, skateboards, and roller-skates on November 4.
At 8:30PM, the dare-devils will take to the vertical Avenue Las Palmas, for the 38th annual El Colombiano-Intedeportes Antioquia Classic gravity competition.
“Gallo,” “El Mono,” “Pastel,” “Pepel,” and “Danielito” are five adrendaline seekers who will by flying along 5.9 miles back towards downtown Medellin for the event.
“All year people go down Las Palmas, but this will be the night where they will be face-to-face, to see who has been better preparing,” said sports coordinator Daniel Tamayo.
The descending lanes of Las Palmas will be closed between the top and Chuscalito from 8PM to 10:30PM for the event.
On Sunday, Teleantioquia will be filming another urban descent, live, at 3PM from the Andalucia station on the Linea K of the Medellin Metro. On Monday, television coverage will continue after 1:30PM in promotion of the upcoming mountainbike developments in Los Salados Park in the nearby moutain town of El Retiro.
