Liga Postobon: Medellin score late to hold Junior

Saturday’s Liga Postobon action had Independiente Medellin score a last-gasp equaliser in their home match with Junior while Santa Fe earned a hard-fought win over Tolima.

Junior appeared to be heading for victory after Carlos Bacca broke the deadlock in the 74th minute at defending champions Medellin, but things went wrong for the visitors in the final phase as Victor Cortes was sent off in the 87th minute and keeper Didier Muñoz caused a penalty two minutes later. Luis Arias made no mistake from the spot, 1-1.

Santa Fe hosted Tolima in Bogota, for what would turn out to be a very entertaining match. The hosts needed just four minutes for Luis Yanez to open the score, but Dario Bustos equalised from the penalty spot shortly before the break.

The home side were handed a spot kick themselves four minutes later, with specialist Omar Perez restoring his team’s lead. Christian Marrugo then drew level in the 54th minute, but Norbey Salazar made it 3-2 six minutes later. Santa Fe’s Yulian Anchico was sent off in the 77th minute, but his team would not give up their lead in the remainder of the match.

Once Caldas stood no chance in a home match with Deportivo Cali, losing 0-3 at Palogrande stadium. Luis Muriel scored all of the away team’s goals, doing so in the 21st, 37th and 64th minutes.
