Copa Mustang II Preview: Week 4

Atletico Huila hope to extend their lead in the Colombian Copa Mustang
II as match round four takes place this weekend, while Independiente
Medellin aim to close on the Armenia outfit.

Action starts on Friday though with the match between La Equidad and Deportivo Cali. La Equidad have done well enough so far and are currently in fourth place, while Cali follow in seventh. The defending champions earned their first victory last week and a second will be more than welcome at El Techo stadium in Bogota.

Atletico Nacional seem to have recovered from a simply disastrous season and are now in third place. The match at Deportes Quindio on Saturday will be a good challenge to see whether the Medellin side is indeed fit enough to be fighting for the title this year.

Leaders Atletico Huila travel to Bogota to face Millonarios, who are now in eighth place after last week’s defeat by Tolima. Huila are the only side to have won all three games so far and find themselves in a position of luxury they aren’t used to. Whether they can deal with the pressure, is to be seen in this game.

If Huila lose on Saturday, Independiente have a chance of moving into first place a day later, hosting Boyaca Chico. The away side haven’t been in the best of shapes so far and all points at a rather easy victory to DIM.

But arguably the most interesting clash on Sunday is the match between Copa Mustang I finalists Atletico Junior and champions Once Caldas. Junior will hope to take revenge and need the win if they want to remain anywhere near the top eight. Bookmakers do favor a home victory in this match.

In other action on Sunday, Deportes Tolima host Cucuta Deportivo, Real Cartagena visit Deportivo Pereira, Envigado face Santa Fe and America de Cali receive Deportivo Pasto.
