Real Cartagena are the leaders in the Colombian Liga Postobon following a 2-1 win over Huila on Sunday. Tolima were held to a draw by Junior.
Huila started well at Cartagena as Ayron Del Valle put the vice-champions in the lead at 31 minutes, but striker Milton Rodriguez equalised shortly before half time and Luis Iriarte made it 2-1 in the 79th minute.
Tolima hosted Junior in Ibague for what turned out to be a highly eventful match. Jorge Perlaza scored the opening goal to Tolima’s advantage after 32 minutes, and Diego Chara made it 2-0 eight minutes after the hour. Junior pulled one back through Martin Arzuaga in the 79th minute however, and Carlos Bacca went on to hit the target for 2-2 in the last minute of regular time.
Tolima conceded four yellow cards and one red, which went to key player Rodrigo Marangoni, while no less than eight Junior players were booked by referee Henry Varon.
Deportes Pereira and Once Caldas held each other to a 1-1 draw, with Wilson Mena putting Pereira ahead on 15 minutes. The equaliser came one minute after the hour mark as the unfortunate Jose Ramirez directed the ball into his own net.
Newly promoted Cortulua earned their very first victory, a 2-0 win over Bogota’s Santa Fe. John Jairo Castillo scored the opener at 56 minutes, and Pablo Jaramillo made it 2-0 in the 68th.
In what was regarded as the top clash of the week, America de Cali needed only one goal to beat defending champions Independiente Medellin. For a long time, the match appeared to be heading for a goalless result but Jaime Cordoba finally broke the deadlock with just seven minutes to go at Pascual Guerrero.
In the remaining match of the day, La Equidad and Cucuta played out a 0-0 draw.
Should the standings remain as they are now, Cartagena, Tolima, Envigado and Junior would advance to the next round.
