Gang leader escapes house arrest in mysterious circumstances

A leader of the infamous “Office of Envigado” gang escaped from house arrest in Bogota, according to Colombian prison authority, INPEC, although officials claim not to know the date of his departure.

Carlos Arturo Hernandez Ossa, alias “Jeronimo” and “Duncan,” replaced extradited gang leader Diego Murillo, alias “Don Berna,” who is in prison in the U.S. for drug trafficking.

Ossa’s flight is the second time in the past few months that an “Office of Envigado” leader has managed to escape from house arrest, after Daniel Alejandro Serna, alias “Kener” fled in March.

The gang leader was apparently granted house arrest, rather than serving time in an actual prison, as he was the “head of the family household.”

“In a controlled routine visit to the residence of Hernandez Ossa, INPEC officials noticed his absence,” said a statement from the prison authority.
