Some 300 people from the Pacific region of Colombia have been forced to flee their homes after violence broke out between rebel group ELN and neo-paramilitary group “Urabeños,” the United Nations said Monday.

In a press release, the humanitarian branch of the international organization said the violence has broken out in two municipalities in the western Choco state.
“One of the armed groups had released the boats of this community, leaving them without means of transport which impeded more people of the community to displace,” the UN said.
Most of the victims of displacement have found shelter with family members living in an area not affected by the warfare, said the UN warning that these family members do not have the means to provide for their displaced family members.
Local UN officials continue to monitor the situation, the statement read.
