20 alleged members of ‘the Office of Envigado’ arrested

Colombian Police arrested twenty alleged members of ‘the Office of
Envigado’, a paramilitary gang that police blame for the rise of
violence in Medellin, newspaper El Espectador reported Wednesday.

According to the newspaper, Antioquia Police arrested almost a hundred alleged sicarios belonging to the gang, who they say was set up by Diego ‘Don Berna’ Murillo, paramilitary leader of the Cacique Nutibara Bloc of the AUC.

One of the arrestees is ‘Pio’, an alleged boss of the group.

Medellin saw more than 700 assassinations this year. Authorities attribute the majority of them to the sicarios or hitmen of the ‘Office of Envigado’.

Colombian Police are collaborating with police forces in Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico, where leaders of the group are suspected to be hiding and organizing the drug activities of the gang.
