Colombian police seized 179 kg of pure cocaine in the northwestern department of Choco, reported local media Tuesday.
The cocaine, considered to be of “very high quality” according to police, was found in a clandestine laboratory near a beach in Ensanada de Utria, a large national park located in the northern part of the department.
The seizure was carried out with the help of informers, said local police. No one was captured in the operation.
Authorities said the cocaine belonged to the crime syndicate Los Rastrojos, which is considered to control many drug trafficking routes throughout western and southern Colombia.
