Sixteen members from a drug trafficking organization that transported cocaine hidden in oil cans to Australia have been caught in Colombia and Panama, announced the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Judicial authorities from both countries made the arrests Friday; eight carried out by police in Medellin, Antioquia, and the remaining eight handled by Panamanian authorities in Colombia’s northern neighbor.
According to the National Anti-Narcotics and Maritime Interdiction (UNAIM) the gang manufactured cocaine in clandestine labs in Colombia and later transported it to Panama, where it was hidden in hydraulic oil cans to be shipped to Australia.
