Uribe to start tour ahead of local elections

Colombia’s former President Alvaro Uribe is preparing to tour Colombia to promote candidates for the local and departmental elections to be held in October.

According to Caracol Radio, the former president is finalizing details to begin his tour of “democratic workshops.”

The first of these “workshops” will take place in the south of Bogota at the end of this month, Senator Roy Barreras told the radio station, adding that the “workshops” will be similar to the communal meetings Uribe held weekly when he was president of Colombia.

According to Barreras, Uribe will not promote specific candidates.

Uribe announced his involvement in the local elections at the end of last year.
