Uribe must sign affidavit on DAS wiretaps

Supreme Court President Jaime Arrubla and Polo Democratico leader Gustavo Petro have also been called upon to provide the prosecutor general with information relevant to the case, while two unnamed DAS officials were called to testify, reports El Tiempo.

President Alvaro Uribe’s personal secretary Bernardo Moreno and former DAS director Maria del Pilar Hurtado have also been asked to give testimony.

Inspector  Alejandro Ordoñez reiterated the seriousness of Moreno receiving confidential information from DAS officials in a private meeting in April 2008.

Last Friday, President Uribe said that a “mastermind” has been “plotting against the government in the issue of illegal wiretaps,” following reports by Semana magazine which implicated the government in the wiretapping scandal enveloping security agency DAS.

The president acknowledged the infiltration of security agency DAS by criminals and reminded the public that he himself had been a victim of breaches of the security agency.
