The United Nations has sent a rapporteur to Colombia to investigate the situation of human rights workers in the country.
Margaret Sekaggya, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, will meet with national government officials, the Inspector General, the Ombudsman and magistrates of the country’s high courts.
The rapporteur is also expected to meet with members of NGOs.
Sekaggya will travel to Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla and teh Arauca department and will hold a press conference about her findings on September 18.
