Two women arrested at ‘El Dorado’ with US$500,000

Two women were arrested separately Wednesday at Bogota’s national airport for smuggling about US$ 500,000 inside paintings and inside their private parts.

One of these two woman arrived in Colombia’s capital from Mexico and smuggled US$ 309,650 hidden in four paintings. The police interrogated the Mexican as part of the health surveillance due to the influenza AH1N1 when they discovered the money.

The other one came from Madrid who tried to enter the country with 126,500 Euros. She initially claimed a sum of 6,500 Euros but under the pressure of the authorities she confessed to hide 120,000 Euros inside her private parts.

The second woman carried a Dutch passport and would not make any statement about the source of the money.

Colombia’s authorities believe that the money belongs to drug trafficking activities, local newspapers reported.
