Ten killed in north Colombia double massacre

Ten people were murdered by unknown armed men in a small town in the north of Colombia Tuesday and Wednesday.

The mayor of the town, Puerto Libertador in the Córdoba Department, Wednesday already announced the death of four, including one of the town’s school teachers. A girl, whose parents were murdered in the massacre, was severely injured when she was shot in the face.

Caracol Radio reported Thursday that the bodies of another four men were found murdered at a farm outside the town. The deceased reportedly were working at the farm. Two more bodies were found on another location.

The Córdoba department, as well as the departments of Chocó and Antioquia have seen a sharp rise of homocides following the demobilization of the AUC and the extradition of their leaders. Newly emerging drug gangs are trying to assume control over the region’s drug trafficking routs.
