Suspected guerrilla leaders killed in western Colombia

Two alleged guerrilla leaders were killed in separate police and military operations in the west of Colombia, authorities claimed Friday.

“Eliseo”, suspected leader of the Calarca Front of the rebel group ELN,  was killed in an operation by the National Police and the Colombian Air Force in the Choco department along the Pacific Coast, according to El Espectador.

“Pecehera,” the alleged second-in-command of the FARC’s elite Jacobo Arenas Column, was believed to be killed in combat in the Cauca department, according to W Radio.

Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon said “Eliseo” was responsible for organizing an armed strike in the Choco department, the murder of police and was also engaged in extortion.
