Colombia’s Supreme Court of Justice has decided to drop a case against National Police Chief Oscar Naranjo for allegedly releasing classified information, various media reported Thursday.
The case regards an investigation into accusations made by former Minister Fernando Londoño, in relation to the 2006 book “La Herencia Maldita,” by Mexican journalist Ricardo Ravelo, in which the author cited the special police branch DIJIN as a source of information regarding a drug trafficking case.
Londoño accused Naranjo of revealing the classified information due to the fact that, at the time of publication, Naranjo was director of the DIJIN.
Court judges and Prosecutor General of the Nation Viviane Morales have cited Naranjo to appear before the court at 8AM on Friday, to notify him that the charges are being dropped.
