Sundance to screen films in Colombia

A Sundance Institute film exhibition that promotes cultural exchange, arrives in three major Colombian cities next week to screen critically acclaimed movies from around the world.

The FILM FORWARD exhibit will feature six different international works aimed at creating “discussions around powerful films that address important social issues,” according to the exhibition’s website. Screenings will take place in Bogota, Cali and Manizales between July 9 and 14.

The event will also host Q&A’s and a workshop with the director of  the 2011 American film, On the Ice, and Sofia Santana, producer of the 2011 Australian documentary, BUCK.

On the final day of the exhibition, MacLean and Santana will host a roundtable with community leaders in Cali that use filmmaking as a tool for empowerment in the city.

It is the sixth incarnation of FILM FORWARD, which was been met with praise in previous destinations including China, Morocco and Mexico.
