South-west Colombia earthquake causes panic

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale caused panic the south-west of Colombia Sunday, but left no damage or injuries.

The earthquake occurred at 8:30 AM was felt in Cali and several towns in the departments of Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Quindio, Caldas and Choco.

According to Spanish news agency Efe, fears for a devastating earthquake like the one that took place in Japan last week caused panic and the jamming of the local alarm line.
