Son of Oscar Lizcano investigated for parapolitics

Mauricio Lizcano, son of former FARC hostage Oscar Tulio Lizcano, is
being investigated for his alleged ties to paramilitary groups in the
Caldas department.

Lizcano, Representative in the Colombian House for coalition party Partido de la U is suspected of having received money of the paramilitaries to fund his 2002 campaign. He is the fifth congressman from Caldas to be investigated for parapolitics.

The Supreme Court opened the preliminary investigation after receiving a number of complaints about the financing of his political campaign.

Mauricio’s father, Oscar Tulio Lizcano received international attention after he and his FARC captor ‘Isaza’ escaped a FARC camp in the west of Colombia.
