Santos leads latest poll with 65%

The latest Datexo voter intention poll released Friday by El Tiempo and La W puts Juan Manuel Santos well in the lead for the June 20 runoff presidential elections, with 65% to Antanas Mockus’ 28%.

The poll shows little change from a poll released Thursday by Inwamer Gallup, which gave Mockus 27.4% compared to 66.5% for Santos.

The El Tiempo poll also showed that Santos, the government candidate, has an approval rating of 75%, while Mockus lags behind at 43.5%.

Mockus has a high disapproval rating, with 56.5% of those interviewed having an unfavorable image of the former Bogota mayor, compared to only 24.5% disapproving of Santos. 1,200 people were interviewed for the poll.

Santos won the first round of voting on May 30 with 46% to Mockus’ worse-than-expected 21%. No candidate got the majority of votes needed to win the election outright, and so the two leading candidates will face each other in a second round runoff election on June 20.
