Santos’ approval rating falls to 53%

Colombia President Juan Manuel Santos’ approval rating fell to 53%, according to the latest Gallup poll.

The poll, published in numerous news outlets on Thursday, surveyed people from Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla and Bucaramanga.

The results suggest that Santos may have taken a hit from the handling of the San Andres dispute in which the world court ruled that Colombia must cede territorial waters surrounding the island to Nicaragua.

The same survey found that 55% of respondents support the government’s rejection of the same world court ruling.
