Famed Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona will visit Colombia to promote his first album as an independent artist.
Often called El Animal Nocturno—the Nocturnal Animal—after the album that brought him public acclaim, the former Guatemalan basketball pro has won just about every Latin music award in existence.
Arjona’s “Metamorfosis World Tour” celebrates his thirteenth album, “Independiente,” so named for his break with mainstream record labels.
“I got fed up with complaining like everyone else, only to keep signing contracts and winding up in the same situation we all complain about,” Arjona told the Latin American Herald Tribune. “This industry without risks and without faith is becoming a machine, and songs don’t get along well with machines–that’s why I started this project.”
Arjona, known for his fine lyrics put to Latin pop rhythms, began his world tour in Mexico in January. He is scheduled to be in Colombia from July 25 – August 8. For more tour information, visit the singer’s website or this Colombia events page.
