Quindio’s GDP per sector

Caldas has one of the most diverse economies in Colombia, particularly because of an increase in tourism and growing coffee, real estate and trade sectors.

Quindio’s coffee-growing sector has seen an unsteady growth due to crop illnesses and an inflation of the peso, making it harder to compete in the international market. The service sector, however, has been growing steadily.

Quindio’s economy has been growing faster than that of Colombia, mainly because of its growing service and construction sectors.

While Quindio outperforms the rest of the country when it comes to economic growth, this has barely resulted in creating jobs.


Poverty in Quindio

After a shaky first decade of the century, Quindio’s poverty rate dropped from almost 50% to 26.4% in 2017.
