Juan Manuel Santos has the best “look” of the Colombian presidential candidates, a panel of fashion designers, stylists, and image experts selected by RCN radio said Wednesday.
It wasn’t even close: 84% of those polled by “Radio Casa Nariño” thought that the coalition Partido de la U candidate and former defense minister dressed the best.
Albert Nieto, a men’s clothing designer, said that the overwhelming vote in favor of Santos was a reflection of the man’s rigorous attention to detail in his formality of dress, not just in the campaign, but throughout his career.
As for the candidate voted to be most in need of an image makeover, Gustavo Petro of the leftist Polo Democratico won with 23% of the vote.
Also controversial for the panel was ex-Medellin mayor Sergio Fajardo’s signature informal style, which 15% of fashionistas considered to be in need of a makeover. Etiquette expert Diana Neira said that while Fajardo is very attractive, his informal style is not suitable for someone who wants to be president.
Please take part in this important de-politicization of the presidential elections and vote for your own fashion favorite in Colombia Reports’ poll on the right. The results will be sent to the campaign managers of all candidates.
