Politicians support Santos as he faces cancer surgery

Following Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos’ Monday announcement that he is to undergo surgery for prostate cancer, many politicians have offered messages of support.

Former president Alvaro Uribe offered his best wishes for Santos surgery which will take place on Wednesday according to W Radio.

The country’s vice president Angelino Garzon, who himself underwent surgery for a stroke this year, also expressed his support and said that he “believes that prostate cancer can be treated, thanks to all the advances in medical science.”

The leader of the U Party Plinio Olano, along with other representatives from the party released a statement offering their sympathy and best wishes to the president.

Clara Lopez, president of the Alternative Democratic Pole said she and her colleagues hoped for the quick and complete recovery of the president
