Police extend hunt for drug lord Valencio

Colombia’s police say they have extended the hunt for “Valenciano,” one of the paramilitary leaders held responsible for the deadly gang wars going on in Medellin and the northern departments of Colombia.

The police announced the extended manhunt on Monday at the Summit of the Latin American Police, where a $5m reward was issued for information leading to the arrest of Valenciano. The FBI, the U.S. Embassy in Bogota and the Colombian National Police had requested that a reward be offered.

According to police intelligence, there have been several occasions when Valenciano has narrowly escaped the attacks of counter-narcotics teams.

The criminal has since shifted to the departments of Bolivar and Atlantico in the north of the country to coordinate the delivery of drug shipments abroad.
