Police capture paramilitary leader

Colombian police say they captured Luis Albeiro ‘Memín’ Tuberquia, a
long time paramilitary leader and regional alleged leader of the Águilas Negras in Antioquia.

‘Memín’ was a member of paramilitary umbrella organization AUC, but never took part in the 2007 demobilization process. Authorities say he re-armed a gang, dedicated to drug trafficking in the north west of Antioquia. He is accused of being responsible for over 400 murders.

The alleged paramilitary leader was arrested in Luruaco, on the border of the departments of Bolivar and Atlantico. he will be transferred to a Bogotá prison.
