Peñalosa leads Bogota mayor election poll

Former mayor Enrique Peñalosa has most chances of winning the October mayoral elections, a poll carried out by several Colombian media showed Sunday.

According to the poll, carried out by pollster Ipsos Napoleon Franco for RCN Television, RCN Radio and weekly Semana, Peñalosa has the support of 25% of the Bogotanos.

The former mayor is surprisingly followed by independent candidate Gina Parody (13%), leftist candidate Gustavo Petro (12%) and Cambio Radical candidate Carlos Fernando Galan. Liberal Party candidate David Luna has the support of 10% of the interviewees.

15% of the interviewed Bogotanos said to still not have made a choice. 2% already were sure they won’t go to the polling station when elections come.

Residents of the capital will vote for a successor of Samuel Moreno, who is currently suspended for his alleged role in a mayor public works corruption scandal.
