Open Mind Metal Fest to rock Medellin

Medellin will host this year’s Open Mind Metal Fest, with world-famous American rockers Symphony X headlining the show on Saturday, May 28.

The event brings together new and established heavy metal rockers to keep the metal faith alive. It has been held in Bogota for six years running, but will be hosted this year by the Forum Events Center in Itagui, an outlying municipality of Medellin.

This year’s organizers have decided to bring the rock scene to Medellin in order to give young promising musicians in the city a chance to get involved.

U.S. metalists Symphony X are returning to Colombia with their new album “Iconoclast.” Michel Romeo, the band’s lead guitarist, is considered one of the most influential guitarists in the world by rock magazines.

Mexican goth band Anabantha, and the three Colombian bands Tenebrarum, Perpetual and Sigma will also rock the event.
