Once Caldas advance to Liga Postobon final

Once Caldas are certain of a spot in the final of the Colombian Liga Postobon following a 4-1 win over Deportes Quindio. Bogota’s Santa Fe remain on course for the remaining spot.

Manizales outfit Once Caldas needed a win to clinch the top spot in Group B, but had a bad start as Elkin Murillo put Quindio in the lead in the very first minute.

But Luis Nuñez leveled shortly before the break and Jaime Castrillon hit the target in the 69th and 73rd minutes to give Once Caldas a comfortable lead. Felix Micolta added a fourth home goal in added time.

With Once Caldas out of reach for the remaining teams in this group, the 1-1 draw between Atletico Nacional and Cucuta Deportivo made little difference.

In Group A, Independiente Santa Fe beat local rivals La Equidad 1-0 at Techo stadium. Cristian Nazarith returned from suspension to score the only goal of the match after 39 minutes.

Deportes Tolima remained in contention for a final spot with a hard-fought 4-3 home win over Atletico Huila. Wilder Medina, Jorge Perlaza, Rodrigo Marangoni and Hugo Centurion provided the home goals, while Amilcar Henriquez, Gustavo Rojas and Gonzalo Martinez scored for the visiting team.

Tolima are two points behind Santa Fe, and travel to Bogota to face the leaders on the weekend. Santa Fe only need a draw to advance to the final. La Equidad and Huila are no longer in contention.
