Police want maximum penalty for drug trafficking cop

Colombia’s national police director General Oscar Naranjo requested the maximum sentence for a police major arrested for drug possession, Caracol Radio reported Thursday.

General Oscar Naranjo said that Cesar Torrijos “is an individual who should never have been a police officer,” and asked that Colombians not lose confidence in the institution’s actions against drug trafficking.

Naranjo expressed his concern about the growing power of narco-trafficking in the department of Caqueta and announced a thorough investigation into these events.

Torrijos, commander of the judicial police in the department of Caqueta, was arrested Wednesday in possession of 227 pounds of cocaine base.
