Nacional beat Junior in Liga Postobon

Atletico Nacional moved into second place in the Colombian Liga Postobon following a 1-0 win over Atletico Junior on Saturday. Millonarios of Bogota beat Cucuta 2-0.

After beating Deportes Quindio in midweek, Nacional added another victory at home against Junior. With 36 minutes played at Medellin’s Atanasio Girardot stadium, it was Giovanni Moreno who scored what turned out to be the only goal of the match.

Three players were red-carded during this match. Frank Pacheco for Junior and Andrez Orozco and Jose Amaya of Nacional were all sent for an early shower.

Millonarios climbed to ninth place following their 2-0 win over Cucuta at El Campin stadium. John Jairo Ulloque scored the opener on 32 minutes and Hernan Boyero doubled the advantage in the 75th. Cucuta could have pulled one back late on but Roberto Polo failed from the penalty spot.

Vice-champions Atletico Huila beat a nine-man Pereira 1-3 in Saturday’s remaining game. Carlos Carbonero scored twice for the visitors, for whom Javier Araujo netted the other. Wilson Mena scored the only goal for Pereira, who had Alexander Del Castillo and goalscorer Mena sent off in the final minutes.
